Open Wellness

Portland, Oregon

Open Wellness transformed a historic building in Northeast Portland into a vibrant wellness center. Led by two naturopathic doctors, the project embraced the “20-minute neighborhood” ethos, offering accessible care within walking distance of local amenities. The design-build approach navigated budget constraints and historic preservation challenges, preserving the building’s character while introducing bright, welcoming spaces filled with natural light. Treatment rooms line the perimeter, creating a clear flow that places patients at ease from the moment they enter.

The office’s design, marked by warm wood tones and curated art, creates a calming, airy environment that invites visitors to relax and feel cared for. A cozy reception area with soft seating and fresh tea sets the tone for a personalized patient experience. The new wellness center not only provides accessible care but also breathes new life into the community, turning an underused historic building into a neighborhood asset — a testament to how design can renew spaces and build connections.
