Demographic shifts, growing urbanization, technology disruption, climate change, and other shifts are putting pressure on buildings to adapt quickly to ongoing change. The workplace in particular must be ready to flex to meet the demands of new ways of working and socializing at the office — and it must be able to make these shifts while remaining an alluring and useful place that will earn people’s commutes and allow workers to be as productive as they need to be.
Business growth and changes in how people work drove Adobe to expand their Silicon Valley campus with a fourth building in downtown San Jose. Their goal was to create a space that would embody what the company stands for: creativity, connection, sustainability, inclusivity, and workplace innovation. To do that, Gensler created neighborhood configurations on each floor to meet various team and individual needs. New space types and technology support all modes of work and neurodiversity to create a model for how a modern workplace should function now and in the future.
As the technology-supported workplace advances and the technology itself becomes more invisible, Adobe’s North Tower will be a place that is constantly inventing, sharing, and exploring for the future. The workplace offers an experience that is stable, desirable, and meaningful over time — a place that is more timeless than future-forward. With a design that builds community, promotes culture, and creates buzz, the building reinforces Adobe’s values. People will choose Adobe’s future home as the very best place to connect with their peers and the local community.
