When an established brand expands into a new country, it gets an opportunity to adapt. A chance to translate its promise (literally or figuratively) to resonate with a different culture and its associated audiences. Ahead of an expansion into Mexico City, Pinterest challenged Gensler to reimagine its brand promise of inspiring limitless exploration and discovery, and to design an environment that inspires and amazes by drawing from Mexico’s rich culture.
Inspired by the effect of a kaleidoscope, the design transports users on a sensory journey through collaborative and recreational spaces that celebrate Mexico’s sights and traditions. The Sanctuary of Fireflies features a spiral staircase that evokes the country’s natural beauty, while the Mezcal Bar, with its terracotta tones, serves as a cultural meeting point. The Café offers a retreat inspired by the waves of the country’s northern beaches, and cenotes are beautiful spaces for concentration.
Pinterest Mexico blends its distinctive spirit of inspiration with traditional Mexican influences, creating a welcoming atmosphere that celebrates both creativity and culture. With each visit, clients and collaborators feel an invitation to explore the space and to investigate the meanings and narratives embedded throughout. The result is a varied, discoverable work environment that turns each day into an enriching experience.
