The consumer goods industry is in constant evolution, requiring companies to innovate their products — and their workplaces — at an ever-faster pace. Flexibility and agility are paramount. Top consumer goods companies are investing in innovation hubs, product experience centers, and other multi-use spaces that bring diverse teams together to co-create, cross-pollinate, and develop new products.
Gensler’s design and strategy teams partnered with the Neiman Marcus Group to define an environment in which associates are given autonomy to work how, when, and where they choose, all while prioritizing customer service. The goal was to create a true “Hub” to connect associates to a network of corporate offices, distribution centers, and retail stores. The resulting flexible design flips the workplace paradigm to 70% collaboration-oriented spaces and 30% individual workspaces with movable furniture, multipurpose spaces, and social lounges.
Since its inception, the Hub has drawn associates from across the globe to collaborate on projects and develop new products. Its flexible interiors are responsive and customizable to individual and team needs, and the hospitality-inspired details of the space elevate the work experience and deliver a high-end atmosphere that reflects the luxury retailer’s customer service values. The Hub is an equitable and inclusive combination of digital and physical work experiences that engage and energize.
