Henkel

Paris, France

Gensler was appointed to design Henkel’s new office in Boulogne’s famous Metal 57 building, originally a manufacturing plant situated just outside of Paris. The result is a state-of-the-art workspace that embodies Henkel’s commitment to driving meaningful change, creating superior value, and being a force for good in the world. Henkel has always been guided by its pioneering spirit and purpose: “Pioneers at heart for the good of generations.” This project brings that spirit to life, creating a workspace that not only supports employees in their daily activities but also champions a culture of growth, collaboration, and sustainability.

By fostering a sense of unity and belonging, the design ensures that Henkel’s employees remain connected through shared values, purpose, and a vision for a better tomorrow. The new three-floor office fosters community and interaction with “The Henkel Wire,” a bold red feature that guides movement and promotes spontaneous encounters. The strategic office layout of distinct zones — a focal area, quiet workspaces, and a collaborative hub — cater to a variety of work styles.

The design approach also prioritises the adaptive reuse of existing building elements, minimising structural changes and reducing the project’s carbon footprint. Drawing inspiration from the building’s location between the Seine and the Bois de Boulogne, the boundary between indoors and outdoors is blurred. Biophilic features, including vibrant greenery and abundant natural light, create a soothing atmosphere that supports both productivity and comfort.
