Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City

Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City Industry Promotion Center is the gateway to the entire CMG Deep Ocean Technology City, which is dedicated to promoting the latest deep sea ocean research. Gensler’s Shanghai design team was inspired by the concept of “gemstones scattered on the beach,” which guided the overall design of the Sanya Yazhou Bay Exhibition Center as part of the greater site.

After carefully studying the culture of the Sanya Yazhou region, the architectural program was developed to create a distinctive cultural landmark that embodies local characteristics with vernacular design elements. The project also focuses on technology, so the building not only connects to its surrounding nature and local cultural elements, but it also leverages digital and smart technologies to encourage visitors to interact with the space itself and well as its exhibits showcasing advancements in deep sea research technology.
