Basecamp

In pursuit of a new London headquarters, Gensler saw a perfect opportunity in Wapping; a chance to take an unseen part of London and transform it into a hub of innovation and creativity. The initial move, to a temporary space within Thomas More Square, marks the first step in the journey towards a custom-designed permanent space, which will be completed in 2019. Set over three floors and across two buildings, the temporary space centres around the analogy of a ‘basecamp’ — signifying the exciting journey that is yet to come, whilst allowing employees time to adjust to the area. Offering co-working, exhibition, event and pop-up spaces, it provides an adaptive environment for creatives and has recently won the award for Best Public Space Scheme at the 2017 FX International Interior Design Awards.
