Scott Hurst, AIA

Design Director, Principal

As a Principal and Design Director based in Chicago, Scott leads some of the Gensler’s most influential community-driven projects. Focused on innovative educational environments and civic buildings, his recent work includes Ironworkers Union 63 Training Facility, Columbia College Chicago’s Student Center, and the John Glenn Columbus International Airport terminal project.

Scott's interest in the community extends far beyond his project work. Outside of the office, Scott has partnered with the Urban Land Institute to help reimagine the post pandemic future of Chicago's Michigan Avenue and the Magnificent Mile. Additionally, he is a board member of the Design Museum of Chicago, a non-profit organization committed to making design visible and accessible to all.

Examples of Scott’s work have been featured in various publications including MIT’s The Journal of Architectural Education, GQ, and Wired magazine. In 2021, Scott was awarded an honorary Doctorate of the Arts from Columbia College for his contributions to the field of architectural design.
