Julian Gitsham

As Education and Sciences Practice Area Leader in Gensler’s London office, Julian is spearheading a new strand of the firm’s education and sciences practice in the UK to create a diverse global portfolio. With over 35 years of experience, Julian has delivered world leading projects, with a particular focus on higher education and scientific innovation. His expertise and passion for the intersection of education, science, and design is invaluable in advancing innovative, research-driven solutions that will shape the cities of tomorrow.

Having worked on more than 20 award-winning projects, Julian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his work on universities and innovation centres across the UK, Europe, Asia, Middle East, North Africa, and Australia. As a senior leader in the industry, he is passionate about the vital role education and science play in people’s lives.

Julian is well known for his effective collaboration with clients, design partners, and his own teams, uncovering clients’ deeper needs to create dynamic, exciting, and responsive places. He is Chair of the Board of Trustees at Turn End Trust and sits on the Industry Advisory Board for Architecture at the University of Brighton’s School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering.
