Texas Athletics Basketball and Rowing Training Facility

For years, Texas Longhorn basketball has been located off-campus in the heart of downtown Austin. Starting in 2022, the Longhorns will finally move ‘home’ when The Moody Center opens on the main campus. Both designed by Gensler, the new training facility is located directly above The Moody Center tunnel to maximize the potential of an otherwise un-useable site. By elevating the main practice courts and unlocking ‘found space’, Gensler also helped Texas Athletics establish a dedicated home for its championship women’s rowing team, featuring team and staff facilities along with 2,500 SF exercise space. The new 75,200 GSF facility is 40% larger than its predecessor and features state-of-the-art nutrition, training and recovery spaces that embrace multiple double height spaces and panoramic views of Austin.
