Syracuse University, Newhouse II School of Communications
Syracuse, New York
Faced with outdated spaces and equipment, Syracuse University sought a new facility for its School of Public Communications that would support its vision for collaborative learning. Partnering with media technology firm, NationalTeleConsultants, Gensler conducted a three-month study to understand the mission of the institution and develop a range of options to bring the University’s physical resources in line with its progressive vision. The study analysis revealed that with minimal additional investment, the University could leverage its prime campus location to display the activity and innovation occurring within the space, which had previously been hidden behind windowless concrete walls. The program included the creation of hybrid spaces, improved storage areas and more efficient circulation throughout the building.
