River Oaks District

A lesson in placemaking, the River Oaks District is transforming the nature of mixed-use retail and dining destinations in Houston. With client Oliver McMillan, Gensler created a premier luxury retail environment in the city, with 250,000 square feet of luxury and boutique retail and dining. The design is rooted in traditional city-block scale, and includes 270 apartments, 100,000 square feet of boutique offices, an upscale dinner theater, and Equinox fitness center — all of which are interconnected by a landscaped urban street grid with wide sidewalks, curbside parking and shady tree-lined streets.
