Panama Convention Center

This design competition entry for the Centro de Convenciones Amador takes its aesthetic cues from both Panamanian cultural arts and the Panama Canal. The highly functional and iconic convention center building, visible from the canal and arrival view corridors, was designed to present an instantly recognizable new face of Panamanian business tourism. Reminiscent of the thousands of ships that have traversed the Panama Canal, a double hull of glass and wood lattice forms the dynamic circulation concourse, the drama of which is heightened by the constantly changing, artistically engineered filtering of light into the expansive space.
