Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum

With the goal of providing guests and performers with a first-class entertainment experience, Forest City Ratner called upon Gensler to re-create NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum presented by New York Community Bank. The goal was to transform this iconic facility into a new, world-class sports and entertainment venue. Equally important was to preserve the good bones of the old coliseum while overhauling its infrastructure. This required upgrading ADA accessibility and building codes, HVAC electrical systems and plumbing, and adding power capacity. The design team re-imagined the event space’s entries and the concourse level, and incorporated a beer garden. Backstage areas, like the new Artist Quarters, are the first of its kind for a sports and entertainment facility. In these quarters, artists and their management can choose from several customizable suites.
