JW Marriott Hotel, Shanghai Fengxian

Positioned in the heart of a resort area centered around a man-made lake, JW Marriott Hotel reflects the surrounding water and its greenery-filled views with a unique hotel building design that emphasizes the fluidity, harmony with nature, and performance that drives the guest experience. Inspired by the vision of water flowing over stones, the hotel is structured atop three islands, which support the structure and provide space for the ground-floor hotel amenities that include retail, dining, and sporting facilities. Instead of a traditional hallway separating the suites, the hotel adopts a split-flow design which creates a green courtyard, inviting light and air into the project. The building shape also ensures uninterrupted views of the lake from every room, furthering a connection with nature and inviting bright, natural light into the space.
