The Far Eastern Department Store, a brand deeply rooted in Taiwan’s history, partnered with Gensler to refresh and reimagine its store design concept at its new A13 Department Store in the Xinyi commercial area. Gensler’s team of designers collaborated with the retailer’s consultants to develop a new positioning concept for a luxury lifestyle department store that seamlessly merges the past and future without sacrificing authenticity.

The store design balances a modern aesthetic and innovative digital features with rich materials that create a historic feel — like vintage blue tiles, mosaics, and brass bars reclaimed from past Far Eastern Department stores. Digital Experience Design screens display vibrant imagery throughout the entrance lobby, hallways, and escalator areas, which are softened with warm wood accents. A brand beacon for both the new wave of millennial consumers and loyal shoppers, the new Taipei A13 Department Store aims to create an unparalleled consumer experience.
