EmblemHealth engaged Gensler to design a new kind of outpatient clinic, where patients could receive a higher-end, private-doctor experience. A prototype for future EmblemHealth clinics, this street-level retail space features a loft-like atmosphere that Gensler’s design team imbued with a boutique hospitality feel. Exposed, white-painted ceilings in the public areas create a sense of spaciousness. Brick columns, combined with stone floors and green-and-blue accent walls offer a comforting atmosphere with references to nature. The clinic houses suites for 13 doctors, with a mix of offices, exam and treatment rooms, as well as accessible offices and nurse-stations for 30 support staff members.
