Challenge

In response to growing pressure from investors, customers, and employees to act responsibly and sustainably, energy workplaces are increasingly prioritizing flexibility, wellness, and sustainability. Large campuses now favor modular designs that support hybrid work and maximize adaptable spaces. Companies are enhancing mental and physical health amenities, integrating natural light, and creating spaces for reflection. Increased investment in carbon-free energy sources, driven by global incentives, is advancing innovation in sustainable energy production and storage solutions, marking a shift towards a greener future.

Solution

Chevron’s new Perth headquarters unites over 1,500 employees under one roof for the first time in a decade, supporting Chevron’s Gorgon and Wheatstone projects. Spanning 20 floors, the space prioritizes sustainability, wellness, and cultural connection. Gensler’s design features world-class amenities, extensive Indigenous art collections, and ergonomic workspaces, fostering an inclusive and health-focused environment. Highlighting Western Australian heritage, the design incorporates repurposed materials like Bunbury Jetty timbers and Barrow Island core samples, blending local identity with Chevron’s brand.

Impact

Chevron’s consolidated Perth office enhances collaboration, strengthens local community ties, and supports employee well-being. With training spaces, medical facilities, and culturally significant artwork, the headquarters promotes a sense of belonging while honoring regional heritage. Energy-efficient designs, WELL Platinum certification, and Green Star accreditation underscore Chevron’s commitment to environmental responsibility. This landmark project not only elevates Chevron’s operations but also reinforces its role as a community partner, fostering sustainability, wellness, and cultural pride in Western Australia.
