Beauty’s Bagel

Beauty’s Bagels has been serving wood-fired, Montreal-style bagels in Oakland since 2012. The popular eatery turned to Gensler to expand their Oakland presence with a new, second store in Oakland’s growing Uptown neighborhood. The unique Art Deco building activates the street level as the store brings in long lines of locals, visitors, and professionals every day.

Inside, exposed brick and steel bracing serve to showcase the building’s original character. The wooden beams that run the length of the interior anchor the space while bringing a sense of scale to the double-story store. This historic location contains cheerful, peach-colored backdrop walls and contemporary cafe tables where patrons can gather and dine — adding to the shop’s lively atmosphere.
