400 Record
Dallas, Texas
Originally built in the 1980s, 400 Record was a nearly vacant 17-story tower commanding a defensive and impenetrable presence. Gensler’s repositioning strategy erodes the building perimeter blurring the separation of indoor and outdoor, public and private, lobby and street transforming this fortress into a transparent and engaging space. A dramatic new front door, two-level lobby, restaurant and sky garden are among the elements that transformed 400 Record. The design creates a comfortable pedestrian experience and activates the building’s street presence moving Dallas further towards becoming a more dynamic, walkable city.
