Steven Velegrinis, LEED AP ND
Design Director
Steven joined Gensler Middle East as the Design Director for the firm’s Cities & Urban Design practice area, establishing the regional master planning and landscape architecture practice. In this role, he draws upon his background of growing up in Australia and pursuing urban planning and heritage conservation before embarking on a career in landscape architecture. After spending close to a decade in Singapore, Steven moved to the UAE, where he has practiced for the past 15 years.
His recent urban design and planning projects include designing masterplans, guidelines, and strategies for clients including NEOM, Dubai Expo 2020, Dubai Design District, Qatar Science, and Technology Park and Bogacay Creek in Antalya. Steven has also led the site design and landscape architecture of a series of leisure and hospitality projects, including the Dubai Expo 2020 public realm, The Chedi, Ras Al Hadd, La Ville Hotel, and City Walk Residential in Dubai and Kempinski The Wave Muscat. He is deeply involved in the development of the profession through his speaking engagements and research initiatives, including speaking at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, The Bartlett UCL, AA School, Cambridge University and Université Paris Sorbonne.
