Shaju Nanukuttan

Shaju is a Design Director for Gensler’s Lifestyle studio in Bangalore with nearly two decades of diverse industry experience. An analytical and critical thinker, he has designed and delivered a wide array of projects, spanning across large-scale commercial offices, luxury condominiums, hospitality, retail spaces, and urban infrastructure projects in the UK, Middle East, China, Singapore, and India. Notable among his works are the KAPSARC research complex in Riyadh, the  RMZ Ecoworld masterplan in Bengaluru, and a high-rise luxury condominium project in Hyderabad. Shaju is currently focused on mixed-use projects, including World Trade Center (Kolkata), Bajaj Finserv (Pune), and SRIAS Lifespaces (Hyderabad). Before joining Gensler, Shaju held a Design Director role at a leading practice in India.

With his international exposure and deep knowledge of the local market, Shaju bridges the gaps across various practices to engage with Indian projects and clients while leveraging their collaboration to steer growth. As a client-focused leader, he likes to be involved in all project stages and is extremely effective at organizing, planning, and delivering across complex, fast-paced environments. As the Gensler Innovation Leader for India, he is keen on facilitating conversations around the future of architecture in India and Gensler’s role in it. 

Shaju loves mentoring young architects and regularly attends design juries at reputed architecture schools in India. He is a featured speaker at conventions such as ZAK Facades and was recently recognized as one of “India’s Top 50 Architects” under 40 by iGen Architecture & Interior Design magazine. He is deeply passionate about architecture and sustainable urban design, which he honed during his Master’s program in Architecture & Urbanism (AA-DRL) at the Architectural Association, London.
