Katie Mesia, AIA, LEED AP

As a Firmwide Design Resilience Leader and Director of Sustainability for the Southeast region, Katie focuses on shifting Gensler’s firm culture to meet our 2030 carbon neutrality goals. A global leader in sustainability, she finds opportunities to change the world through green design by fostering a sustainable culture that resonates among employees, from the office to their homes. By gathering resources and developing tools, she coaches and inspires colleagues to consider the carbon impact of the decisions they make.

Through her upbringing in New Mexico, Katie grew to appreciate the path of the sun and the mountain skyline in addition to learning about cross-ventilation, evaporative cooling, and weather patterns. She thrives when connecting with people who are passionate about sustainability and the environment. Katie received both her Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree in Architecture from The Catholic University of America.
