Jonathan Barnes, FAIA, NCARB, LEED AP

Jonathan is a Co-Managing Director of Gensler Columbus. Anchored by his deep Ohio roots, Jonathan’s dedication to civic engagement and community investment is showcased through his advocacy for historic preservation, adaptive reuse, and inclusive, equitable design. His collaborative spirit makes him a valuable partner in helping clients achieve their aspirational visions. As a natural connector, Jonathan strengthens ties between design, real estate, and city organizations, fostering new synergies to build a better Columbus.

Previously, Jonathan led a highly acclaimed firm that designed award-winning buildings and interiors around the region for more than 30 years. He was a founder of Urban Land Institute’s Columbus District Council and was the former president of AIA Columbus. In his free time, Jonathan supports a nonprofit dedicated to improving economically distressed communities through social entrepreneurship.
