Carolyn Sponza, AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Studio Director, Principal
Carolyn is a Studio Director in the firm’s D.C. office. She combines her almost 20 years of architecture and planning experience with a passion for engaging stakeholders and communities in a dialogue about long-term project planning. Trained in both social science and design, Carolyn has a unique approach to her work, considering every design decision from the lens of user perspective. Carolyn’s past project work includes urban revitalization, new city planning, tactical urbanism and creative placemaking, transit-oriented development, aviation planning, and airport city planning. She is involved in the Washington, D.C., chapter of the AIA, currently serving on its Board of Directors as Past President. Carolyn is an alumni of the Catholic University of America and the London School of Economics and Political Science and has recently published a guide to temporary urbanism, which focuses on the transformative power of playful interventions in the built environment.
