UK Legal Workplace Survey 2025
What We Did
Since 2005, Gensler has surveyed how UK lawyers allocate their office time. Our 2025 data reveals that the way lawyers currently spend their time in the office is highly consistent across all roles. Partners, senior associates, and associates/junior associates all spend between 41–44% of their time working alone.
In contrast, the amount of time that lawyers spend working in the office varies significantly by role. Associates and junior associates work in the office more than twice as often (84% of their time) as partners (39%) at UK law firm offices. While partners spend more time working from client sites, they also spend nearly four times as much time working from home compared to associates and junior associates. This gap could create a potential challenge for partners in maintaining visibility and fostering in-person connections with their teams.
